Home / Boiler repairs
Find the fault, fix it, and tell you the truth about it
A boiler that has stopped is stressful, more so in winter. We work out what has gone wrong, explain it without jargon, and tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it or whether you are throwing money at an old boiler.
How we approach a repair
What we do when we arrive
- Check the symptoms and read any fault codes
- Test the likely causes rather than guessing
- Explain what has failed and what it will take to fix
- Give you the cost before we carry out the repair
- Carry common parts so many faults are sorted in one visit
- Tell you if replacing is the better-value option
Common faults we see
Problems people call us about
- No heating or no hot water
- Pressure dropping or the boiler keeps cutting out
- A leak from the boiler or nearby pipework
- Banging, kettling or gurgling noises
- A fault code or the boiler locking out
- Radiators cold at the bottom or not heating
Before you call
Two quick things worth checking first
A couple of faults have simple fixes, and it is worth a look before you pay for a visit. Check the boiler has power and the thermostat is set to call for heat. Then check the pressure gauge: if the needle is near zero, low pressure may be the cause and is often easy to put right.
If the boiler is leaking, you smell gas, or anything seems unsafe, do not investigate it yourself. Turn it off and call us. If you smell gas, also call the national gas emergency line on 0800 111 999.

Good to know
Common questions
Can you come out today?
Call us and we will give you a realistic timescale for getting to you. We would rather be honest than promise something we cannot keep.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace?
If the boiler is newer, a repair usually makes sense. If it is old and parts are scarce, repeated repairs add up and replacing can cost less over time. We will lay out both options.
Do you charge to diagnose the fault?
We will explain our call-out and diagnosis charge when you book, so you know what to expect before we arrive.
What if you cannot get the part?
On older boilers, parts are sometimes discontinued. If that happens we will tell you and talk through your options.
